In the knowledge society, research is one of the foundations of university education (Wainerman & Sautu, 2004). Within this global context, the University of San Isidro has defined two basic criteria which are mutually related. Firstly, our priority consists of the formative research (Restrepo Gómez, 2003) understood as the formation of a staff and university community which is willing and eager to investigate.
For such purpose, the Vice Chancellor of Research works jointly with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs in order to articulate strategies and actions with the degree programs. Accordingly, three of the four directors of our degree programs (Law, Social Communication and Education) are performing research projects with the purpose of including other professors and advanced students in their research teams. Secondly, we give priority to investigations which have a significant social impact in the Northern Area of the Province of Buenos Aires.
The Vice Chancellor of Research and Extension made the annual call to the staff professors so that they might submit research projects to be performed during the year 2017. The term fixed for the submittal of projects was from October 31st to November 30th, 2016. Nine projects were received. After the evaluation performed by the Assessment Committee formed by Inés Aguerrondo, María Irma Marabotto and Ezequiel Gomez Caride, it was decided to support the following projects:
